About the Artist

Holly Geddes began her career as a portrait and landscape photographer in Denver, Colorado, where she studied Folk Art under Pricilla Hauser, MDA and Becky Hillwertz.  Holly is one of the charter members of the Denver Chapter of what was then called The National Tole and Decorative Painters Association, now known as The Society of Decorative Painters.  She also studied oil painting under Carolyn Nies, an eminent Western artist. 

Upon moving to Rockville, Maryland, Holly enrolled in Montgomery College in the field of Studio Art.  She taught beginner and intermediate tole painting at Brown’s Gallery in Poolesville, Maryland.  Over the years, Holly has participated in local shows both in Colorado and Maryland.  As a public school teacher, she designed and implemented the Website of Forest Oak Middle School and won four, unsolicited national awards for design of a school-based site: Web Feet for school media specialists, Surfer Award for educators, and MidLink Magazine Cool School Award.

Holly and her husband, Walt, now make their home in Chestertown, Maryland, where they have recently restored a Civil War-era townhome in keeping with the town's historic traditions..
